Miley Cyrus’ Parisian Style

Jennifer Aniston, who’s set to guest star on “Cougar Town,” was snapped taking a car ride with the show’s Josh Hopkins on Thursday night. Aniston is reuniting with her former “Friends” costar Courteney Cox on the small screen for the season-two premiere of “Cougar Town” later this month. She’ll play Jules’ (Cox) therapist, Bonnie, who gets too involved in her client’s life. Meanwhile, Josh plays Jules’ single and minglin’ neighbor, Grayson Ellis.

Chances are you’ve witnessed this scene before. A victorious fighter, flush with adrenaline, steps up to the mic for a post-fight interview. His face is lit up like a full moon and, at least in that triumphant moment, anything seems possible. He’s just cold-clocked a qualified competitor on national TV. He feels like a giant among ants.

He’s Julius Caesar. He’s Alexander the Great. Conqueror of kingdoms and destroyer of worlds. So is it any surprise what he says when asked who he’d like to face next?

‘I’ll fight anybody they put in front of me.’

Really? Anybody? Because – and don’t take this the wrong way, guy with only two or three UFC fights under his belt – ‘anybody’ covers a lot of territory. A lot of very, very dangerous territory.

And yet, to hear the fighters tell it, they’ve never turned down a fight. Not ever. Merely suggesting otherwise is enough to make you their enemy for life. But the thinking fan has to wonder, aren’t there times when it’s smart to turn down a fight? Isn’t it sometimes better to know your own limitations, particularly early in your career? The Truth About Choosing Your Fights

MMA Reality: Victory and Praise, Being Humbled and Defeated at UFC 118

We have two trailers and the first clip from Buried, the Ryan-Reynolds-in-a-coffin suspense-thriller, Due Date, a comedic road movie starring A-lister Robert Downey, Jr. and the ubiquitous Zach Galifianakis, and the first clip from Let Me In, Matt Reeves’ (Cloverfield) remake of the 2008 Swedish horror film with Chloe Moretz (Hugo Cabret, Kick-Ass, (500)Days of Summer) as a preteen who may not be what she appears to be.

1. Buried: A bidding war erupted this past January at the Sundance Film Festival for this suspense-thriller set entirely inside a coffin. Reynolds plays an American contractor in Iraq who, post-kidnapping by persons unknown, awakens in a coffin with only a cell phone, a lighter, and enough oxygen to last 90 minutes (conveniently the length of an average feature film). Reynolds received kudos at Sundance for his intense performance as the increasingly desperate contractor.

[After the break, the international trailer awaits.]

Quoteworthy:

“There’s absolutely going to be a sequel. Part two is tentatively scheduled for New Year’s weekend, it may take place Super Bowl weekend. Either way, it will be in Vegas. Last time I defeated the myth, this time I’m gonna defeat the man…. The only thing [that's going to be] different is that I’m leaving there with the belt. That’s it. We were one minute away from pulling it off. Look, if I had beat him, I would have had to come back and beat him again anyways. So nothing in my career has changed. I was the best fighter before the fight, I’m the best fighter after it…. We’re not here to get along. I’m not here to be number two. It’s number one or let’s move on, and I think that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

Here we go again. The Chael Sonnen hype train has already left the station, with about four to six months still to go before his rematch with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Sonnen feels he’s still the better fighter despite losing at UFC 117 via last minute, fifth round submission to the Brazilian. He may have a point: He squashed the “Spider” for more than four rounds, taking him down repeatedly and pounding on him relentlessly. Sonnen even got the better of the stand up exchanges during the few minutes/seconds that the pair were on their feet. But, at the end of the day, he did lose. And Silva revealed after the fight that he took it despite doctor’s advice to withdraw with a back injury. So is a healthy, and seemingly motivated Silva, Sonnen’s ultimate undoing or were those just excuses to cover up the fact that Sonnen has all the tools to untangle the Spider’s sticky web?
