Usually when I talk about music around these parts, it’s with an eye on the movies. But even though most of my inspirations come from movies — with the music as a vital, but supporting player — today I thought I would try to do things a little differently. Which is why today is all about music that was inspired by the movies.

Pop music is littered with movie references, and sometimes the references are a little more obscure, as is the case with the genesis of Bob Seger’s classic Night Moves. Legend has it that the idea for the song was born as Seger walked out of the theater for George Lucas’ American Graffiti and he realized that he had his own stories of a misspent youth to share. But other inspirations can be a little more obvious, like with Jay Z’s tribute to Frank Lucas and American Gangster with his album of the same name.

Takuya Kimura’s (37) wife Shizuka Kudo (40) talked about how she celebrated her art prize win with her family at a press conference for blue ribbon winners at the National Art Center in Tokyo yesterday, reports Daily Sports.It is the first time Kudo has won a blue ribbon prize for her art, which is being shown in the 95th Nika Exhibition. The singer said she was overwhelmed she had been awarded a prize that had only been given to 25 art pieces out of the total 3007 which had been sent in for the exhibition. “It is a prize that has come after 15 years of working slowly so I’m very happy,” she said. Kudo said her husband and their daughter were equally excited about the win. “They both said ‘that’s amazing’.  They said it was a big occasion so we went out to eat yakiniku,” she said. Kudo’s piece, titled “??? (Hitomi no Oku)” portrays a girl and butterflies intertwined together in color.  She said it had taken one year to finish. “I wanted to make the face more exotic, but as I went into doing the finishing touches she turned into a younger girl. “She looks like (my) daughter I guess,” she said. It is the 15th time Kudo has had her art accepted into the exhibition since her first in 1990. The 95th Nika Exhibition runs from September 1 – 13 at the National Art Center in Roppongi, Tokyo. A bunch of Guns N’ Roses fans in Dublin must have not received the world memo stating that Axl Rose is just like all of our relatives: the asshole is always tardy for the party! This is why you have to write the start time on the invitation as an hour earlier than it really is. Always.
Well, when GNR finally took the stage 90 minutes late without uttering one “We’re sorry,” several audience members expressed their rage through dance. And by that I mean they threw glass bottles at Axl’s head. With that, Ireland just found their new official national sport.
Now the Irish believe that every drop of booze is made from the joyous tears of saints (as do I), so I’m sure all the bottles they threw at Axl’s face were empty. They chugged, then tossed. Oddly enough, Axl didn’t appreciate the wave of bottles coming at him so he quit that bitch.
But Axl had the last laugh, because later he came back out onstage, put all the empty bottles in a blue plastic bag and traded them in for 5 cents each. Axl laughed all the way to the recycling bank, where I’m hoping they took his bottles out of the bag and threw that shit back at his ass.

Knowles denies rumors that he will no longer manage Beyonce’s career.By James Dinh

Jay-Z may be Beyoncé’s husband, but the hip-hop heavyweight will not be managing the pop star anytime soon. According to a statement posted by the singer’s management website, Music World Entertainment, Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles is not being replaced by Jay-Z or anyone else as her manager.
“Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive manager of Beyoncé,” the statement reads.
Mathew Knowles has always played an important part in his daughter’s career, dating all the way back to her days in Destiny’s Child. When the group split in 2005, Mathew continued managing Beyoncé as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But Rowland and Williams recently parted ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment team. Earlier this year, he also denied claims that the trio were in talks to reunite Destiny’s Child.
In addition to refuting the online rumors, the management company confirmed that the singer is working on upcoming music projects. “Furthermore, Beyoncé is readying the release of her new, highly anticipated DVD and has started the recording process for her new album,” the statement concluded.
One producer that the singer may be reuniting with for her next record is Ne-Yo. The pair previously worked together on her hit single “Irreplaceable” back in 2006. Just last week, the soon-to-be father tweeted, “Mornin’ NY!!! Studio with Mary J Blige last night, Beyonce tonight. I LOVE MY JOB!!! Shout out Jerry Wonder!!”

Madison Square Garden is my happy place. But only last night – when MSG was host to a Justin Bieber concert that was filmed for his upcoming 3D film – did it finally get a chance to shine and earn its moniker as “The World’s Most Famous Arena.” Eonline (no exclamation point?) reports that the Biebs rocked the Garden to its knees last night, recruiting several of his heroes to ensure that this particular show would be a worthy foundation of his cinematic legacy.

Before the show, Bieber coyly tweeted: “Its all really coming 2gether. Tonight I perform with my heroes! MSG its almost time!” He’s such a tease! I was pretty excited because I thought that meant I’d finally get a chance to see the likes of Buzz Aldrin, Werner Herzog, and Temple Grandin get onstage and bust out the chorus of “Baby,” but apparently Bieber and I have different heroes. Bieber’s guests included Miley Cyrus (duh), Usher (still trying to re-live his She’s All That glory days) and Boyz II Men (riding a career high after being covered several times at my bar mitzvah thirteen years ago). According to the eonline report and Isaac Asimov’s third law of teen idols, “The crowd went beyond wild whenever Justin and Miley made any physical contact whatsoever, however innocent.”

Paris Hilton Fashions (PHF) has approached Kangna to be its Asian brand ambassador — a first for an Indian actress.

Says an insider, “The brand carries Paris’ signature style — fun, flashy, bright. Kangna was short listed because of her edgy approach to fashion. She is considered to be a stylish girl who experiments, takes risks and sets trends.”

The brand researched her films, her approach to clothes, her image etc. before zeroing in on her. It’s a good time for the actress. After the success of her latest flick Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, she has been offered a whopping amount to endorse PHF.

Says a source close to the actress, “Nothing is final as yet and if Kangna signs it, it will be her first international fashion brand.”

Earlier she has endorsed other clothing brands, including a leading international denim wear but that was limited to India only. At some point Kangna also aspires to start her own clothing line which will be a reflection of her persona.

Soulja Boy Tell’em has mastered the Internet and proven successful in the music industry, and now the “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper is set to try his hand at book publishing. The rapper plans to release a book called “Teenage Millionaire” in conjunction with his next album, The DeAndre Way, scheduled for release next month.

Soulja Boy told MTV News during his recent appearance on “RapFix Live,” that his tome will be about his navigation through the music business.

“It talks about me making my first million dollars at 17 years old,” Soulja Boy explained. “I talk about how my life changed. It talks about the music industry, everything I learned about the music industry — how I got into the music industry with my mind set, all the ins and outs that I go through. All the chapters break down my beliefs and what steps and methods I took to get in this position. I just go and break [them] down into detail. I just want all my fans to read it when my album drops and have a good read and feel where I’m coming from.”

SB is currently enjoying the success of “Pretty Boy Swag,” which rests at #12 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The rapper is in Los Angeles this week to shoot the video for one of his next singles, “Blowing Kisses.”

In July, Soulja Boy told MTV News that “Speakers Going Hammer” would be his next single. “Basically, it’s all about the sound of the music,” he said about the Boi-1da-produced track. “I got bars on this one. First verse, second verse, all bars, another anthem, as far as the hook. The hook is catchy. The video is gonna match the song perfect. And it’s another hit.”
